Mid-2009 MacBook ("AkariBook")

I bought this machine in early 2018. It was bought with money originally allocated towards a DVD burner for YukariMac, but when I realized that I needed a new daily anyway I decided to start looking for this model.

It was listed as for parts or not working, when in all reality all I needed to do was install an operating system. It came with a 160GB spinner in it and 4GB of RAM. I imediately upgraded it to a 256GB SSD, followed shortly by a 512GB. I have yet to upgrade the RAM to the unofficial max of 6GB, but that is on my to-do list. The optical drive works but has a weak eject mechanism.

I don't have much more to say about this machine in all honesty. It's a faithful daily driver that I use primarily for surfing the web, music production, and gaming. It runs El Capitan and Snow Leopard and is overall a really great machine. Even when I upgrade, this will still be a part of my workflow for sure. This computer is named for Akari Mizunashi from the Aria series of anime and manga.

Update: Snow Leopard tasks have been handed off to AyaBook.

Update: It is now a secondary computer, as AriPad has become my daily driver.
