I got this lovely machine (along with an Ultra 1, Kaypro 4, and Pentium custom build) from Ncommander, and it has been an absolute joy to work with. It's my first 32-bit Sun system (the Ultra 1 and my preexisting Ultra 5 are both 64-bit, being UltraSPARC machines) and, given it has a microSPARC-II and not a HyperSPARC, it's capable of running NeXTstep and OPENSTEP, which I do intend to do eventually. Before I got a hard drive for it, I set up a diskless install of NetBSD 10.0 hosted on a virtual machine. This works well, if not a little slowly. But that's to be expected considering the speed of the CPU and the fact the ethernet controller is 10base-T. I now have both a video adapter and hard drive for it, meaning I can use it without needing to interface with it over serial. I installed Solaris 2.5.1 on it to start out, and it feels right at home on that version. I've had a fun time installing programs and tweaking the OS to be how I want it to be. I also recently got SunOS 4.1.4 network booting in a diskless configuration, and that was quite an experience, as I've never used a BSD-based version of SunOS.
