The ThinkPad T42p is a computer that is near and dear to my heart, being the first computer that I really owned and was aware of. My original T42p served me well for many years and ran Windows 7. It disappeared somewhere around 2012 and I don't quite know what happened to it.
This T42p is quite a fascinating tale. It is actually from the UK and has a non-English keyboard. I was able to have a friend help me get it and I'm eternally grateful. It's such a wonderful machine to use, especially now that I've upgraded it with an SSD. I put Windows 7 and Void Linux on it to start, but since have switched to only having Windows 7. I also have Ubuntu 10.04 on a secondary hard drive in the UltraBay, which I plan to use for a project when I can devote time to it.
Overall I'm very happy with how my T42p is shaping up. The only thing I want to really do now is get an en-US keyboard for it. But that is by no means essential.
