The Lenovo ThinkPad T530 is the first T series ThinkPad I've had in my possession since my original IBM ThinkPad T42p (a model which I have since reacquired). It is a beautiful example of Lenovo-designed ThinkPads from this era, and has elements of both old and new ThinkPad design. It has both a backlit keyboard and a ThinkLight (one of the only models to support such a configuration), the newer-style "chiclet" keyboard, a lid latch, and dedicated volume control/mic mute buttons (plus a ThinkVantage button). I also got the ThinkPad Port Replicator with it.
This computer is outfitted with an Intel Core i5-3320M with vPro clocked at 2.6GHz base frequency, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD. It also has a 1400x900 screen and a fingerprint reader. I have since upgraded it to 512GB of SSD storage and 12GB of RAM.
It had Windows 10 installed on it when I received it. I kept Windows 10 on it until I had the time to install Ubuntu Cinnamon. In the process of saving the Windows 10 install to an image, I accidentally messed up the partition. In late 2021, I elected to replace Ubuntu Cinnamon with Fedora and, more recently, dual boot the system with Windows 8.1.
Overall it's served me very well and it has been exceedingly useful in my working with older Unix-like systems.
